Healing scarsacne

Nobody likes acne on his/her face. It can be the worst nightmare you can have while you’re fully awake. And if having acne is not embarrassing enough, the scars that are left behind prolong this problem and add to the frustration. Certain forms of acne don’t stay that long and with proper treatment, disappears from wherever it has grown. But acne scars however tend to stay longer and are sometimes harder to get rid of.

Nonetheless, acne scars can be treated. We definitely do not want any of those brownish dots on our skin most especially on our faces where they can be totally seen and easily identified. For people who have fairer complexion, this dilemma is so true. Not to worry because there is hope. You can get rid of acne scars, and you can get rid of them using a few things that might just be present in your kitchen cabinet or fridge.

Lemon Juice

Now lemon is more than just making your favorite lemonades. It is actually an effective natural exfoliate and helps lighten scars. It has natural alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) that makes scars fade and promotes skin healing. Squeeze out the juice from one lemon and apply it on a cotton ball. Pat it to the scarred area and then rinse off with cool water. If your skin is sensitive, mix an ample amount of water to the juice. Do not let the juice stay too long on your face to avoid burning.

Baking Soda

Baking Soda has a lot of uses and you might be surprised to know about one of its secret which is: it heals scars. It actually contains sodium bicarbonate crystals that are good when it comes to skin exfoliation. By making it as a facial scrub, you can use baking soda to minimize acne scars. Just mix one teaspoon of baking soda to two teaspoons of water to make a paste. Apply this paste gently on your skin, making circular motions and focusing on the scarred areas. Afterwards, rinse with warm water. You can also use the paste as a spot treatment by applying it directly to the affected area and letting it sit for about 10-15 minutes before rinsing it off. Do this regularly and see major results.

Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera has been proven to be effective in healing wounds, reducing inflammation and minimizing scars. It also acts as a good skin moisturizer, leaving your skin softer and healthier. Aloe Vera gels are actually available over the counter but its organic form is still the best. Cut off a stem and apply the sap directly to the scarred area. There is no need to rinse off because the goal is to let your skin absorb it.

Honey

Another natural wonder that does a number of beauty treatments is honey. More than just sweetening our drink or pancakes, honey is also good in clearing up pimples, reducing inflammation and getting rid of scars. Avoid using commercialized honey. Instead, use its raw form. Apply it directly on your face or on the scarred areas and let your skin absorb it. Honey is very gentle to the skin so there’s no need to worry about skin irritation.
